Boom! I exploded in the control room today. Lol malunya, but then the manager here deserved it.
Basically he was asking me about one of the systems for Card Access Management and about a software which I couldn't manage to run last time. So I said that I don't know which software it was and I forgot the name (there's so many! and I'm not in card access team). And he just kept asking! I replied "I don't know", "I forgot" in 3 languages..... and still he kept asking.
So I blew up, slammed the table repeatedly and shouted "WHAT PART OF 'I DON'T KNOW' DON'T YOU UNDERSTAND?"
That closed the case at last.
Upon reflection, I have been of shorter fuse lately. Even before I left for Vietnam. I am no longer so tolerant or patient with alot of things. I guess I try not to show it, but I do get really frustrated easily.
Well, Haz promised to change me back into a teddy bear when I get back. Lol. Current Mood: tired | | Monday, September 25th, 2006 | | 7:13 am |
Exhausted Just spent the weekend overnighting at the site. And I still can't finish "bluffing" the system. Hooray... in 2 hours the manager is going to get hell from the client. I don't care anymore.I'm going to sleep | | Thursday, September 21st, 2006 | | 1:15 am |
Busy busy busy Been very busy. Working everyday.
When I first got here, it's 9am start work.
2 weeks later, it's 8am start work.
Mow it's 7.30am start work.
Moreover now I get back home (which is the office) after 9pm now.
I swear the manager is trying to squeeze blood out of us all. He doesn't have a choice though, because the managing/planning of the project is ridiculously bad. I won't be surprised if my company never gets any more jobs in Vietnam.
I'm trying to hang in there and just finish the job, no matter the shit I have to wade through.
If all the project managers are like this I'll go insane. That is, if I don't die of overworking first.
Now, if only they can get the toilets to work at the site and leave the aircond running 24/7, then I'll live at the site. | | Monday, September 11th, 2006 | | 2:46 am |
Double Whammy Lol two days in a row I've gone to the following places:
Disco
Karaoke
Unlike me isn't it? 3 of my colleagues (1 technician and 2 subcons) are going back to Msia next Friday, so this is a farewell thing for them.
The karaoke I went to is supposedly the best in Hanoi. It has english/vietnamese/chinese/malay/indonesian/philiphines(sp?) songs. As soon as we stepped into the karaoke, we were greeted by a whole room full of Vietnamese girls. Woah, GROs at the front door. After we get a room, the "Mama" brought in a batch of the girls and asked us to pick one per person. Hahah... my first experience with GROs. Not to be mistaken for prostitues though. No sex in the karaoke allowed.
I bet you guys are going "OMG Fabian goes to these places?" and sorts.
Anyway dead tired now. There goes my weekend. Back to the work where the annoying fella with the bad teeth will ask all sorts of questions and give all sorts of suggestions.

Guess what? Last night I went to a karaoke. Lol. Surprised?
Did I sing? Yes I did.
It wasn't a fantastic karaoke. But I was freaking bored last night. Fortunately I skipped the invitation to go to the disco after that because when I got back, my colleague's server notebook went haywire. Stayed up until 3.30am to fix it. Lol I'm still tired because I had to wake up at 9am. Actually my boss called me at 9. I was sooooo no a happy camper in the morning. Bitched like mad to my colleagues. Where's my weekend? Its a sunday! I wanna sleep! Where's my coffee?
Murphy's law is working overtime on my job here. Everything that can go wrong is going wrong. Nyeh....
Aside from work there's not much to do here at night. It's either sit in front of the laptop surfing or go next door for our own version of mamak which has beer, cigarettes and spoken in chinese/malay.
Come to think of it, I haven't had a proper english conversation in weeks.
On the plus side, I'm fine now, no more sniffles/cough. But I think I better stock up on the vitamin C supplements. I am eating 2-3 meals a day, but I lost a little weight. Which is a good thing. Maybe I'll lose my tummy eh? Actually the only person that would despair would probably be Haz. Sorry Haz, no way I can keep that weight here :p
My mom's been admitted to the hospital for back problems again. It's not life threatening, but still I wish I was home.
At the middle of this month till the end of the month, the workforce stationed here will be lessened. However I'm the last one to go back (leaving only the maintenance team here) as it will all be system fine tuning. So I estimate I'll be going back sometime in October. Faster = better.
Lol, my entry has no continuity at all... it's jumping here and there. Oh well. off to bed. Nights all. Current Mood: tired | | Wednesday, August 23rd, 2006 | | 12:33 am |
It's mamak night I realised that I miss alot of ppl right now. Homesick already I guess. (lol, my colleague just asked my why is my face so red. To tell the truth I'm feeling really sad now.)
Anyways, my flu's recovered 80%. Still coughing (dry) which is annoying.
I think I'll call home tomorrow. Current Mood: lonely | | Saturday, August 19th, 2006 | | 7:12 pm |

Flight from KL to Hanoi Just remembering my feelings and experiences when I left KL for Hanoi
I haven't travelled alone before. So naturally I was a bit worried. More so I haven't flown in more than 10 years.
So here goes an utter noob to traveling abroad to a land where very very few people speak/understand english
Just before take off I realised how many things I'll miss in Malaysia. Family, friends, my dog, my cats...
meh I miss all those now.
Anyway the flight to Ho Chin Mihn City wasn't that bad. Except I was on the last row at the back near the toilet. There was a tour group from Mayflower on board too. I was seated next to this tall vietnamese girl. Nice to see from far away only though. Up close? meh... Too much make up.
Ho Chin Mihn City looked huge from the air. A really long, wide and windy river goes through the city (yeah, it's brown too). Lots of farms could be seen on the outskirts. Landing wasn't as scary as I thought it'd be. Lol. Anyway, I disembarked from the plane, and was directed to a waiting bus (which was covered with Petronas branding). And the bus took us to the arrival terminal.... which was 30 seconds drive from where the plane was.
Got past immigration with a slight hiccup. They asked me to open the box I used to carry all the electrical stuff in. Opened it, showed them the contents. Then they said something about tax blah blah blah. I suppose they wanted to charge me tax, but I had on my super blur look and kept asking them over and over again to repeat. I guess they got tired and gave up. No tax! yay!
Then waited in the airport waiting area for a while for the transit flight. This one is full of vietnamese though. Sat right above the wings this time. No view to see. Boo.
Not much to say about the trip to Hanoi. I fell asleep. And by the time the plane was near Hanoi it was 7pm and it's dark.
Managed to find the taxi stand and was fortunate enough to be able to produce the address of my office/living place in vietnamese writing. One thing about vietnam's road system... they love the horn. They beep at everything. Vehicle in front slow, beep. Crossroad infront, beep. Pretty girl across the road, beep.
Okies. meeting now. write more stuff later | | Saturday, August 12th, 2006 | | 12:45 am |
Arrived I've reached Vietnam safely.
Found the office without alot of problems. Actually I saw them at the roadside having drinks so I stopped the taxi.
Mode of transportation around here is mostly motorcycles. The drive on the right side of the road and the car's steering is on the left.
How I will travel around: On the back of a motorbike. Eeeks....
Anyhows going to find out the work culture here, but I think when I am able to get to the site I will have very little free time. | | Thursday, August 10th, 2006 | | 11:30 am |
Last minute preparations Still trying to settle some things before I go.
My tools have not arrived, i'll need to borrow someone else's. *Edit: Took someone else's tools.
Laptop transfer forms are filled, but admin refuses to allow it until the manager is contacted. *Edit: Got the transfers. No time to configure the other laptop though.
Roaming Phone line received (btw is 012 3050993) but the PIN is blocked and waiting for the Unblock Pin. *Edit: New number given 0123050993. Cindy says it's one number before the bomba number lol. Makes it easier to remember for me.
Cash Advance has been prepared, but I need to cash it out and convert to USD. *Edit: Went to 2 money changers to get the total.
Flight ticket is ready, but it's in another manager's room and he's not in. *Edit: Got the ticket. Boo... only 1 return ticket.
Still need to get the resistors from Puchong. *Edit: went to jalan klang lama to get it instead.
Lol stress...*Edit: I'm pooped. | | Wednesday, August 9th, 2006 | | 11:37 am |

And off I go Will be flying off on Friday afternoon.
To those interested, I'll be meeting up with some ppl on Tuesday, 8pm, Amcorp Mall, Japanese restaurant. Of course let me know if you're coming.
MP3 for all of you Otome wa Do My Best deshou
Very genki song. | | Tuesday, August 1st, 2006 | | 1:20 pm |
And Vietnam again... Bumped into the GM and Head of Dept at lunch. They said to be prepared to leave in a week.
Haha... wonder when that'll actually be... anyhows, will update.
MP3 post: Musou Uta - Suara (Theme Song of Utawarerumono)
Utawarerumono = The one that sings. It's a good anime, ongoing with 18 eps so far. Its so far a good anime. | | Wednesday, July 5th, 2006 | | 6:03 pm |
The Melancholy of Suzumiya Haruhi Lol now that the series has ended, I will shamelessly market this anime.
It's a very original anime and in my opinion it's very well done. Although the sequencing of the episodes are purposely messed up, it builds up the character's background.
Anyway, for now here's a song from the anime. It managed to hit no 5 of the japanese charts. Hirano Aya - God Knows
Enjoy! | | Friday, June 30th, 2006 | | 2:27 pm |
False Alarm again I'm not flying on Monday.
They're sending someone from East Malaysia to go there first. Me? Well I guess I need to be ready to get ready to up and leave at anytime. :(
Again I hope to be able to finish stuff there ASAP and come back fast. In fact, I've just received an email from my colleague asking me to bring food over (he's muslim). Hehe...
Meh, all the running around yesterday and today doesn't seem worth it. Oh well, I got to see some of the yccians which I haven't seen in months! Current Mood: rushed | | Friday, June 23rd, 2006 | | 2:51 pm |
I'll be away for a while Being transferred to Vietnam very very soon. Probably the 3rd of July.
I'll be away for a couple of months. Although I'll try my hardest to come back ASAP from what I hear things there are in a mess. Actually I found out today they wanted me to fly in 3 days.. then I went "HUH?? I'm not ready!!" Same said with my supervisor and other ppl I work with at the sites (KLCC and Jalan Duta). So we kinda got it extended. And I did tell them to give me 2 weeks. Booo to them. Anyway if you guys would like to meet up before I go just put a message here and I'll arrange something the weekend before I go. | | Wednesday, May 3rd, 2006 | | 1:17 am |
To negate bad luck Beginning of the month = pay! Yay I'm finally back to the path of financial recovery!
Except... on the way home from watching She's The Man, I ran over a screw on the road.
I'm not sure how far I drove with a flat tire, but the longer you drive on a flat tyre, the greater the chance the inner tube of the tyre will be irrepairable. So I might need to buy new tyres(plural because you don't replace a tyre, you replace 2 or 4 tyres for balancing) if I'm unlucky. Boo... there goes my money again.
I'm going to tell my supervisor in the morning that I'll be going to work late.
Oh well... on the plus side, She's The Man is a good show. Go watch it with some guys and watch them squirm at some of the scenes. I kept sinking into my chair.
Anyway time to share 2 great songs from the anime "Full Moon wo sagashite". Eternal Snow & Myself (sung by Changing My Life) I'm in the middle of watching this series.
Speaking about anime... it's the season for new anime! Ah My Goddess Season 2 has started. So has Tsubasa Chronicles. I'm also following The Melancholy of Suzumiya Haruhi (really funny). Current Mood: blah | | Tuesday, April 4th, 2006 | | 2:39 pm |
/wave Hi all!
Typing this post kinda because TJ wanted me to. If I don't put it up she might murder me later.
Updates time!
1. I found a job. Actually Cindy helped me get it. I'm working as a Systems Engineer at her company. Her manager loves to kutuk her. Her GM keeps telling me how good it is to get posted overseas.
I have a laptop to work with. It's not a new one but it's waaaay better than Cindy's :p
Working hours are slightly odd. 8.30am -> 6pm. Lunch break from 12.30-1.30pm. Occassionaly I'll have lunch with Cindy. But she's mostly out of the office.
This isn't a desk job as I will be required off and on to go to the site. Hopefully there's not alot of OT.
2. Japanese Class
Yup, japanese classes have resumed and we'll be taking Intermediate level 3.
This time around, our class is small. Only 12 people signed up and on the first day, only 9 showed up.
Our new sensei is Fujitani Sensei. She's rather small sized and has a high pitched voice. AND SHE'S SO GENKI. And cute too. Yesterday's class passed by pretty quickly.
Sensei: Wait here for a while. *steps out of the class*
Sensei (in sunglasses and a toygun): Te o agero!!! (translation: hands in the air!)*accompanied by toy gun noise*
From there on she with her gun, will tell us to raise our right hand, raise our left hand, put our hands down... give her one ringgit.... and if we do it wrong she will shoot us with that gun. Was so funny.
Anyway, the good thing is the class isn't as boring. But we get called upon more often because there's so few of us. hahah...
3. My previous company
Looks like it's dying. only one staff left from the original crew of 8 when I left. Don't know how I can get my money back soon.
4. WoW
Heheh.. converted Cindy into a WoW kaki. Partying with her priest with a little gnome warrior. I blame Tan for influencing me to play a gnome warrior. Originally I was going to play a paladin.
Guess that's all for now. Hope to see some of you soon! Current Mood: busy |
